You’ve just had a baby, and you’re feeling overwhelmed with everything. Parenthood can be stressful, but you don’t have to go it alone! Now, you’re wondering what you need to buy—from cribs and bottles to diapers and everything in between. One item that often gets overlooked is a humidifier. Let’s be honest; humidifiers aren’t meant to last forever; sometimes, they get clogged with calcium buildup and break. We went through a few since little one was born, and below are our top five favorites!
Should You Put a Humidifier in a Baby’s Room?
Before we jump into my picks, the looming question is, do we even need one for the baby’s room? The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends using an installed whole-house humidifier for babies and children. For those who can’t afford a whole-house humidifier, a cost-saving option is a portable cool-mist humidifier.
Is It Ok for Baby To Sleep With Humidifier?
Cool mist humidifiers are generally safe for babies. You still want to ensure they cannot pull them down or tip them over. Making sure your shelves or drawers are anchored and the plugs secured will help prevent any accidents with the baby! Do not use warm mist humidifiers in your baby’s room. These humidifiers heat the water before they push the warm mist out into the room. The warm mist could burn the baby if they get too close to it. Here’s an article about the difference between cool mist and warm mist humidifiers.
Humidifiers for Baby’s Room (Best Options)
We researched and tried dozens of humidifiers to find the best one for our budget and baby’s room. Below, we have compiled a list of our top five humidifiers. Each has pros and cons, so you should determine what you’re looking for in your humidifier before purchasing. Our nursery room wasn’t a large room. Our concern was that we have steam radiator heat. We had to make sure that during the winters, the heat wouldn’t dry out the room. This could cause the baby to get stuffy or have nose bleeds.
